Diamond Multimedia 300Mbps 802.11n Wireless Range Extender (WR300N)

Product Description

From the Manufacturer
The Diamond WR300N wireless range extender and repeater will increase the range of your existing wireless coverage removing those wireless dead spots and or weak areas of your network. It's like having three devices in one: the WR300N functions as a wireless extender to increase your wireless range, a standalone wireless access point to create a wireless network, and a wireless bridge to extend your home's Ethernet coverage.

The small form factor lets you plug the unit directly to the wall socket without any additional cables. For frequent travelers, this means you can bring your own wireless network on the road. Use in your hotel room to transform your wired Ethernet internet access into a mobile Wi-Fi network to share with multiple notebooks and smartphones.

3-in-1 Device
Wireless Range Extender
The WR300N receives weak wireless signals and extends the signal range to greater distances eliminating wireless dead spots.
Standalone Wireless Access Point
Create a wireless network by connecting the device to a wired router/cable modem or DSL modem. This small compact portable device can create wireless connectivity wherever you go. Use in your hotel room and turn a wired internet connection into a wireless internet connection.
Wireless Bridge Device
When functioning as a wireless bridge, the WR300N receives a wireless signal from your home wireless network and converts it to wired Ethernet connections for non-wireless devices such as internet ready HDTV’s, gaming consoles such as Playstation 3, and Internet-ready Blu-ray players.
Connect with Security
The WR300N is equipped with 64/128-bit WEP, Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), and the latest WPA2 encryption with TKIP and AES algorithm to protect your wireless network from unauthorized access. MAC Address Filtering for wireless links provides an additional layer of security for your wireless network.

Customer Reviews

Hallelujah! I now have wireless all over the house (3000 sq ft). I have tried another repeater device (are you listening ASUS?). Worked for a couple of days, never had much of an extended range. It would lose the signal frequently. Finally gave up. Now this one, this is the champ. So easy to set up. Used my laptop. Disconnected my wireless connection. Plugged in the Diamond. Connected the Ethernet cable (enclosed) to the Diamond and the laptop. Opened Firefox. There was the setup interface. A couple of clicks and I was in business. I plugged in the Diamond in the hallway, and now I have a great signal all the way to the far end of the house. Get this one. So easy. More importantly (well, just as importantly) it works. Happy, happy.

Our house is pretty long, and it just so happens that my bedroom is located on the extreme opposite end of where our wireless internet is set up. I've always had to come to the middle of the house to get internet signal on my laptop, and for years I never realized it could be fixed with a simple $60 gadget (that really was super simple to set up). One thing about the instructions is that it says to turn off your wifi and plug an ethernet cable into the repeater, but I personally thought it was much easier to just use the wireless and manually select the repeater's wifi identity (and remember that the password it will ask for is located on the back of the repeater). I'm actually writing this review from my bedroom and I just finished watching a streaming episode of TV on Hulu...AND my new Google TV in my room is able to connect to the internet now too. Highly recommend.

Customer Reviews

I have a few macs and a few PCs. iMac is the main home computer. I have AT;T DSL. I had an old 2Wire gateway modem/wireless router now at least 8 years old and recently "upgraded" to the latest AT;T 2Wire Gateway modem/wireless router 2701HG-B (~$100 dollars at the AT;T store). Although this was easy to set up, its wireless perfomance was glitchy and I had to reset it often, and it would regularly drop my MacBook Air wireless connection about every 5 minutes.
I read the reviews on Amazon and the ActionTec modem/wireless routers appeared to be highly rated, so I purchased the Wireless N model and have been very happy.
Advantages:
1. It is cheaper than AT;T modem/router
2. It is a bit faster (I am gaining about .2-.5 MPS in my download speeds)
3. Wireless performance is excellent with greater range than AT;T modem.
4. No more dropping connections with my MacBook
5. You can actually custom name your wireless network and create your own password, AT;T assigns you a network name ("2WIREXXX") and a numerical password.
All in all quite please and have therefore given it 5 stars. Had I known about this I would have never purchased the AT;T modem in the first place. No wonder that modem only gets 2-3 stars on Amazon. I will be selling it now on EBay.

Was using a Westell router provided by Verizon a few years ago and it kept dropping the wifi connection on my laptop even though it was only 35-40 feet away from the router. I purchased this one and it was pretty much plug-n-play using Frontier DSL and I haven't lost a connection since...so I'm a happy camper again. It works well with Nettalk voip to so that's another plus.

Customer Reviews

About buying a dual-band router
Based on the reviews here, it seems that a lot of people have unrealistic expectations of what a dual band router will do for them, so I wanted to start my review by addressing the expectations you should have when you buy any dual band router. Many people seem to think that the 5GHz frequency band is inherently newer and better than the 2.4GHz band. That's simply not true as both bands have been around for a long time (802.11a ran at 5 GHz) and each has its strengths and weaknesses.
Some reviewers here have discovered one of those, noting that they didn't get as much range from the 5 GHz channels as the 2.4. That's exactly right. Higher frequencies do not travel and penetrate obstructions as well as lower ones, so we'll all get more distance from running in the 2.4 GHz band.
Another consideration is that many 802.11n devices run only on the 2.4 GHz band and won't even see a 5 GHz network. (The iPhone, for example, see only 2.4 GHz, while the iPad 2 sees both.) Even if your router runs at 5 GHz, it's useless if the device you want to connect doesn't also run it. Before investing in a dual band router, it's a good idea to check out what you want to run and be sure it will work. I'd call the ubiquity of 2.4 GHz devices an advantage for that band.
Two advantages 5 GHz does have over 2.4 are that 1) it carries more data and 2) there's generally less interference at 5 GHz, so its more likely to achieve its potential to carry that extra data. There is a lot more 2.4 GHz traffic out there (cordless phones, microwaves, other wireless networks) so you can end up with slower access if these are causing interference. This is especially an issue in densely-populated areas of big cities. In contrast, the 5 GHz band is generally quite sparsely populated.
For most people, the reason to buy a dual-band router is that you want to watch HD movies or play video games wirelessly. The 5 GHz band is excellent for those data-intense applications, but your router has to be located well to give a good signal. A good setup for those people is to put your video and games on the 5 GHz channels and to run your regular Net surfing and email devices on the 2.4 GHz. Many dual band routers, like the Lynksys E2500, can run those simultaneously so that they don't interfere with each other.
Of course, you're still limited by the speed of the broadband coming into your home, but local traffic (like streaming a movie from a local server) will benefit. People who don't need to stream high bandwidth data, and who just want to check email and surf the web, will do just as well with a less expensive 2.4 GHz router (though this reconditioned price is low enough to justify the purchase even if you don't end up using both bands).
About my Purchase
I'm not usually a fan of buying refurbished products, but I had two 6-month-old Asus rt-n56u routers that both failed and I needed something to use while they were being repaired. (A month later, I'm still waiting... not happy with Asus.) Since I figured it was a temporary solution, and I didn't want to blow a lot of money on it, I picked up this refurbished E2500 and it has worked out great. It's been much more reliable than my Asus routers (even when they were working), so I'm seriously considering just ordering another one of these to put my network back together and just selling the Asus ones if they ever come back from repair. I spent nearly three times what this costs, each, for the Asus routers and what did it get me? I'm coming around to refurbished products. If they don't work when you get them, Amazon is great about returns. If they only last 6 months... well, I'd rather be out $40 for a 6-month lemon than $120, as I was with each of the others.
Update 2/16/2012
I did go ahead and buy another of these and it's working great. The only downside of these versus the ASUS routers is that these won't let me use the 'Internet' port on the second router to connect it to the first, so I have to use up one of my four wired device ports to make the second one into an access point. Still, the signals are strong and they've been reliable. I'm still waiting to get my ASUS routers back from their service center (terrible service), but I'm sticking with these when I do. I'll just sell the ASUS ones when they get back.

It dos what it is supposed to do, even though it is refubrished it is in perfect shape. It reboots quite fast I have to say, and most settings change do not require reboot.

Linksys Maximum Performance Dual-Band N900 Router (E4200 v2)

Customer Reviews

I have been operating the V2 for about three weeks now (Firmware version 2.0.26.124551). I've been able to "real-world" compare this router in my home with two other excellent dual band wireless routers: the Asus NT-R56U and the Apple Time Capsule, 3rd Generation. I give the V2 five stars because this router delivers the best consistent range and performance in my "heavy wireless device usage home" than any other router I have owned.
Pros:
Setup: Set up in minutes with the included setup disk--I chose to skip the disk and setup via the browser on my iMac. (Both approaches = 3-4 minutes)
Future Proof: Supports IPv6, dual band 5Ghz/2.4Ghz, supports up to 450 Mbps on the 2.4/5 Ghz band
Powerful: Range and throughput in my house exceeded both the Asus NT-R56U and the Apple Time Capsule 3rd Generation. E.g. 5-7 Mbps vs 25+ Mbs at the most distant areas of my house from the router
Load Testing: Exceeded range and performance ( significantly) of the R56U and the TC 3rd Gen during multiple device/heavy use streaming, gaming, computer, iPad connections in my house
Consistent: I haven't run into any performance issues whatsoever with the e4200 V2 after 3+ weeks of continuous operation
Cisco Connect Express: This is a great app for your iPhone/iPad/Android device to monitor and manage your Cisco Home Network ( Very similar to the Apple Airport Utility app)
Editors Choice: Both CNET and PC Magazine awarded the e4200 V2 their "Editors Choice" 2011
Cons:
Runs very warm: Maybe some will call it "hot"--I haven't experienced any issues yet ( that I know of) but it does run warmer than any other wireless router I have owned
Expensive: The Asus Nt-R56U ( another very fast dual band router) might be a better value especially for smaller spaces ( compared to current V1 or V2 list prices)
450Mbps: According to the recent professional reviews you need a 450MBps capable wireless client to experience the "maximum" range and performance from this router (None of my current wireless devices are 450Mbps capable so the max speed I could get was up to 300 Mbps when in very close proximity to the e4200 V2) So if you don't experience "advertised" performance it may be due to your own wireless clients
5Ghz;short range: The 5Ghz band does not have anywhere near the range of the 2.4ghz band--but I think is the same for most current wireless routers. (If your wireless devices are located more than one or two rooms away from the router use the 2.4Ghz band)
Professional Reviews:
See helpful e4200 V2 professional reviews on:

For those of you looking for settings for your wireless router to maximize your router's performance in a Home environment try these:
Set Security to "WPA2-Personal" and Channel to "Auto" for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. Channel Width for the 2.4Ghz band should be set to "20Mhz Only" and 5Ghz should be set to "40Mhz Only". Network mode should be set to "N-Only" for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. Note: if you have older wireless devices that only use wireless a,b,or g, then set the 2.4Ghz to "mixed" Network Mode else these devices will not connect to the N-Only network.
Update 1/12/2012:
Apparently there is a recently discovered security issue with most routers that offer WPS ( Wi-Fi Protected Setup) to include the e4200 V2. Until a fix is released by the manufacturers, its probably a good idea to frequently monitor your networks "connected devices" for potential unknown/unwanted visitors. You can always restrict access to unwanted devices by enabling Parental Controls under Access Restrictions/Parental Controls/Target Devices
If your e4200 V2 is running too warm, try turning off the port lights on the back of the router under Setup(Tab)/Basic Setup/then scroll down to bottom of page and set Port Lights to off. (I ended up putting something under the router to lift it up about two inches to increase the airflow under the unit--this resulted in a much cooler continuous operating temperature .
Update March 6, 2012:
Firmware Version: 2.0.36.126507
The e4200 V2 has been pretty much a "set it and forget it" experience for me since I set it up. I haven't experienced any operational issues at all and was pleased to discover that the router also has an automated firmware update feature--so I don't even have to worry about making sure my router has the latest firmware since it updates itself. ( I think this is a default setting--but you can check for the same ( or you can turn off this feature) under the main Administration tab: Administration/Firmware Upgrade/then select On-Line Upgrade and then select Upgrade Automatically) From the same menu, you can also use the "Restore Previous Firmware" feature if you experience any issues with any of the new firmware updates.

I just purchaed this router after returning a Netgear WNDR4500 that had internet connection issues. This router is so easy to setup and configure with the web interface. The only problem was the fact you have to save each page before leaving or the setting will be lost on that page. I was on the web in less than 10 minutes. The FTP server is also a nice feature with a connected USB drive. The signal strength is excelent in all areas of my house with the router in the basement. I had poor signal strength with a D-Link DIR-825 that this router replaced. The unit looks good and runs cooler than other Linksys routers that I have owned. This is definitely worth the money.

Linksys E1200 Wireless-N Router

Customer Reviews

I've used Linksys home routers for more than a decade and this is by far the best one yet in every respect. I didn't bother with their fancy new guided configuration software as I'm an experienced user. (I do suspect that inexperienced users might be almost as intimidated by the nifty new setup software, which transports the desired configuration to each new computer via a thumb drive, as they were by the older setup procedure; but that's another story). But I swear that the manual configuration took no longer than getting the shrink wrap off the outer box and undoing the twisty-ties -- reset the admin password, give the SSID a name, select security type, and set a network password. That's it -- all other factory pre-sets are exactly what you need and would expect. Total time for manual setup once the shrink wrap was off -- perhaps 3 minutes at most, and most of that spent crawling under the desk to plug it in. As I used the same SSID and network password as the old Linksys box I was replacing, all the machines actually rejoined the new network and router by themselves (and switched from G to N protocol) as soon as I entered the network password into the router control panel, with no prompting. And finally, the new packaging, even though it shouldn't really matter that much, is nothing short of breathtaking. If you're used to staring at the funny blue box on 4 legs with the two ear antennae, suddenly you enter the 21st century with this new box -- everyone familiar with Linksys products wants to touch it as if it's fine jewlery! It must be only 20% of the volume of the old box. A real triumph of industrial design, quite aside from the hardware and software.

I ordered this router after reading reviews of tons of other wireless routers available on amazon, and it works perfectly - it is easy to setup (no troubles at all whatsoever), no blinking lights on the front of the router, very lightweighted and compact. Couldnt have asked for a better router for someone who is not tech-savy and for someone who just wants a simple router that works as specified and as per its 5 star reviews!

Customer Reviews

I debated whether to buy a brand new Medialink Wireless-N router, or this refurbished model. I finally decided to save a few bucks on the refurbished model, based on Medialink's high marks for customer service. It was a wise decision. The purchase was to replace an old Linksys WRT150N Wireless-N router that I've never liked.
Shipping by Medialink was pleasantly fast, considering I opted for the standard shipping. I ordered the unit last Tuesday, and it arrived 3 days later on Friday. Not bad for snail mail; from New Jersey to Colorado. It arrived properly packaged and complete with all needed accessories. The glossy black unit that I received had minor scuff marks, but nothing that detracts from the look of the unit. The important thing is the performance and it did not disappoint in that regard.
I followed the instructions for setting up the router, and all went well. I had no need for the included CD. I do not have a modem, as my setup is a direct connection from my ISP's dish radio antenna to the router. Once all the settings were complete, I backed them up. Next I upgraded to the latest firmware (from v3.3 to v11.8). NOTE: MAKE SURE YOUR COMPUTER IS CONNECTED BY NETWORK CABLE WHEN YOU UPGRADE THE ROUTER OR YOU WILL BRICK IT!
I have multiple items hooked to the router... 4 of them by LAN and the rest by WiFi. My wireless units include Kindles (both Touch and Fire), 2 Roku units, and a Windows 7 laptop computer. One of the Roku units is an older, Wireless G model. Everything else uses Wireless N. I only had to reset the wireless connections for the new setup.
The router's software is easy enough to figure out, as it's properly laid out. I admit, however, that I had a slight learning curve after using Linksys routers for several years.
My knowledge of routers is advanced, although I do not consider myself an expert. But I found all the important things that I needed to properly setup my home network. I enabled WAP-2 Personal, renamed my SSID and setup a strong password. I also enabled MAC filtering, and I setup some Internet access rules for 2 computers and the Kindle Fire. I opted to use the MAC addresses for creating the rules as opposed to URL filtering, since the MAC assignments don't change. I had no problems with time zones as others mentioned in the reviews for the new units, but I'm guessing the latest firmware upgrade prevented that. I also took advantage of setting up OpenDNS by changing the DNS settings as needed. Once everything was completely setup, I disconnected the unit for a few minutes and then powered it powered back up. All of my settings and security remained in place.
PROS:
1. Nice, compact unit. It looks great without antennas poking out.
2. Software is much faster than what I'm used to with Linksys products.
3. Medialink currently has only 1 model of Wireless-N router. This is actually a BIG plus, as Medialink can fully focus on the support of a single model. For example, the firmware upgrade was easy compared to fishing through endless files at Linksys (e.g. which model; version 1? 2? 3? Oops, sorry, but we don't support that model anymore).
4. Outstanding value and outstanding customer service. It doesn't get better. It makes me wonder what everyone else is doing.
5. It's working and it's working well. The wireless range throughout my 4200 sq ft home is better than my old Linksys unit with the big, ugly antennas. The router's software works properly under IE8, IE9 or Firefox 10.
CONS:
1. Setting up Internet access rules via MAC required 3 rules for 2 computers and 1 Kindle Fire. There was no way to setup a single rule for all 3, as Linksys allows. I'd like to see that addressed in a future firmware upgrade.
2. Quality of Service (QoS) is not as easy to setup as is with Linksys. The QoS rules must be set manually, which I simply did not bother with.
3. It would have been nice if the unit shipped with a newer firmware preinstalled.
Lastly, in case it matters to anyone, all of my computers are Windows based (Win 7; 32-bit ; 64-bit). I do not have anything in my setup that's Apple related, and I do not have any smart phones. FWIW, the Kindles and Roku units easily connected.
I know this is only Day 1, but so far I am very pleased with my purchase. If anything changes, good or bad, I'll update my review.
EDIT: (2/4/2012) I reoriented the unit by attaching it against the wall, right next to where it was on top of my computer hutch. What a big difference it made. It went from a "fair" signal on the far end of my house to "excellent." This is much better than what I ever got from my Linksys. If your signal is so-so, try reorienting the unit in a different direction.

After reading the numerous positive reviews of the new version of this router and the excellent response by the manufacturer to the few negative reviews I figured 'what the heck, it's $25.'
This router replaces an aged G-speed NetGear that liked to drop connections randomly and had a really annoying whistle. I ordered on Thursday and received last night (Monday) - very fast shipping. Packaging was good - your usual cardboard box. Not much room for improvement there.
The router itself is a pretty basic black box, surprisingly light and curvy. I did note a few scuffs on the surface - nothing horrible - signs that this is, indeed, a refurbished product as stated. Nothing to detract from the performance and if you're really concerned about shiny you should be buying new.
Router setup was easy, though I'm really used to the NetGear menus so finding everything took a few minutes. There are helpful hints shown in all the menus when something isn't obviously clear. An update of the firmware went very smoothly (although the first attempt to do so wirelessly almost bricked it - I should have read the instructions a bit more clearly - they specifically state to NOT try to update via wifi - only wired). After the firmware update I reset all the settings back to the settings of my old NetGear and spent the evening surfing. Never dropped a connection and speeds were very good.
So far the router is working very well and the speed bump from G to N is very noticeable. All in all a very satisfying purchase.
MediaLink - you've done very well.

Customer Reviews

I own a computer that utilizes Windows Vista (64 bit) and was not having success installing wireless adapters from two reputable companies. At this point I was ready to cut open walls and run the ethernet cable to my computer. I mentioned the problem to my computer geek cousin and he told me to purchase a medialink wireless adapter as it supports Windows Vista 32 and 64. So I googled the wireless adapter and found that Amazon carried it. So I went to Amazon.com and there it was in the medialink adapter's product information, compatible with Vista 32 and 64. At $29.99 ( $10.00 cheaper then the previous two adapters), I thought it was worth the risk. I recieved it two days later and proceeded to install the medialink wireless G USB adapter and again no success. At this point I'm ready to punch a hole in the wall out of frustration. I finally decided to contact Mediabridge to convey my dissatisfaction. The phone was picked up after one ring and a customer service person rerouted me to technical support. Technical support picked up after one ring and I'm thinking to myself, this is amazing, no machine telling me to push buttons. After running several test on my computer with technical support, I still was not wireless. The tech support person, who was professional and knowledgable, recommended trying their wireless-N USB adapter. He said Mediabridge will ship it out right away at no cost. I received the wireless-N adapter the following day (again, amazing). I install it and within five minutes I was wireless. The installation was a snap. I'm on the internet several hours a day and I haven't had any problems at all. I forget sometimes that I'm wireless. At the price Mediabridge is charging for their wireless adapters, this is a steal. Kudos to Mediabridge for backing their products and lowering my blood pressure. I recommend this product to anyone who wants a quality wireless adapter at a great price.

I recently added Mac OS X to my Windows Dell Mini 9. I had replaced the WiFi card in the Mini with an Intel 5300 which is great, but there's no Mac OS support. So I was on the lookout for an inexpensive USB adapter that supported OS X and Windows - if it was wireless N also, that would be a bonus. A couple of weeks ago when I started this search, I came up empty, but this time I found the Medialink adapter, which claimed to support Windows, OS X and Linux. I decided to give it a try.
When I received it I was upset to see that the packaging claimed support for Windows only, and the Medialink web site has only Windows drivers. But the instruction leaflet says that OS X and Linux drivers are on the CD and sure enough, they are.
Medialink claims that this is one of the smallest Wireless N USB adapters and I believe them - it's half the size of an Actiontec adapter I recently reviewed.
I first tried it under Windows 7. The driver installed nicely and the adapter worked, though I found the configuration utility confusing and could not figure out how to use WiFi Protected Setup (WPS). I did manage to create a profile typing the WPA2 key by hand and that worked. The signal strength was somewhat lower than the Intel card (with its three antennae in the netbook lid), which was understandable. Speed was excellent, though. Note that this is a 2.4GHz only adapter - 5GHz is not supported.
I then tried OS X. The CD contains drivers for several earlier versions of OS X, but not 10.6 (Snow Leopard). I tried the 10.5 driver and the installation appeared to hang after a while. However, when I rebooted and inserted the adapter, everything seemed to work. This time I managed to figure out how to use WPS and it connected with my router without problems. Unlike with an AirPort or some Apple-supported device, there's no indication in the menu bar that there's a connection, but the "Ralink Wireless USB" utility that launches when the adapter is connected confirmed it was there.
Medialink also includes a rather large desktop base with a hefty USB cable attached, should you want to use it. I tried it and it did work.
Pros: Support of Windows, OS X and Linux (I suppose - I didn't try Linux), compact size, good performance
Cons: Confusing configuration utility
Edit: December 29, 2010
I noticed that the Amazon description no longer mentions Linux and Mac support, so I called Medialink to ask what's up. I was told that they found the market for the adapter on Linux/Mac OS smaller than they thought and they didn't have expertise in those operating systems, so they no longer advertise Mac and Linux support. However, drivers for those ARE still on the CD and if they get any newer driers from Ralink (the chipset vendor), they'll pass them on (on the web site, I assume.) I still recommend this adapter for Mac OS users, but be prepared to be "on your own" if you're using Mac OS or Linux. (And sorry, I can't provide support either!)

Customer Reviews

Well, now having the need for a wireless N network I did a bit of research into which router I should buy. After reading so many positive reviews, I kept teetering on whether or not I should try this one out... especially since I hadn't heard of the company and the price point was so low. Eventually I figured "what could it hurt" and ordered it. I immediately got an email from the company thanking me for the order which included the support information if needed. That was a nice touch.
The bottom line is that I'm VERY glad I ordered this. Set up was a breeze if you follow the very simple instructions to the letter. I was up and running in minutes.
My other concern was how well it would sing with my Cisco Wireless N Bridge(The Cisco-Linksys WET610N Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming and Video Adapter)in my living room which is notoriously finicky with non-Cisco product integration. I'm very pleased to report that it immediately started communicating once set up, and has been rock solid for 3 days streaming Hi Def 720p and 1080p video. The signal strength is fantastic and has out performed other routers I have owned in the past. Time will tell how it holds up over the long run. I will update this post if anything goes awry.
Finally as icing on the cake, the router just looks cool. Thats always a happy bonus!
The only negative I could find is that the tech support line isn't 24 hours. Seeing as how I didn't need it, I suppose that really isn't a negative in the truest sense.
I'm a heavy Amazon user who doesn't even write reviews yet felt compelled to for this gem. A Great product, at a great price, and easy set up. Who could ask for more?
EDIT 06/14/11 Wow, there are a ton of comments on my review and I thought it would be a good idea to chime in again. Here we are about 8 months after my purchase and the router is still going strong. I have noticed that there was some signal degradation about 3 months in, but I changed the broadcast channel and it cleared up. Whether that was a fix or coincidence I don't know. As far as I can remember it only dropped once and I had to reset it. Not sure what people are expecting, but I thought (and still think) I got fantastic bang for the buck. And to answer some of the people implying I somehow work for the company that makes or markets it: I absolutely do not! I just was pleasantly surprised and wanted to share.

UPDATE (12/11/2011): I've had this for about a year now, and I have still never had a problem with it. I've left it on/plugged almost the entire time, but when I've had to unplug it (e.g., to move a computer desk), it has reconnected almost instantly when I plugged it back in. I also added a second laptop to the house a few months ago, and the router is still performing flawlessly. If Amazon allowed it, I'd give this thing another star.

I took a chance on this a few months ago, when it was relatively new and had fewer reviews. The company emailed me a few days after ordering to thank me and inform me how I could receive assistance if I needed it.
Well, I haven't needed it. In fact, this router is about as "plug-and-play" as a USB drive or mouse. I didn't even follow the Quick Start instructions...I just plugged it in and it worked right away! I previously had a Linksys B router which would drop the connection about once or twice a night. However, the MediaLink router has worked perfectly for months...I haven't lost the connection once! This router will seriously compete with the big boys, and for the price, it is an incredible value.
Pros:
+ Very, very easy to set up
+ Perfect signal anywhere in my apartment
+ Has worked continuously with NO LOST CONNECTIONS in two months
+ Looks very sleek
+ Fantastic price
+ Friendly customer service, although with how well the router works, I may not ever have to contact them again...
Cons:
- This is a STRETCH, but the blue lights on the router are a bit bright...it may distract you in a dark environment. However, I am never in the same room as the router, so I do not care at all.
Note: I use a Toshiba Windows 7 laptop, which is the only device that utilizes the router. I haven't tested it with multiple machines or with my Wii or anything.
(Also, I've noticed some people responding to other 5 star reviews with accusations that the reviewers work for the makers of the router. Not sure what their agenda is (Linksys employees/fanboys?), but for the record, I do not work for Mediabridge Products, LLC, nor do I know anyone who works for them. I am not receiving any compensation or other such benefits for writing this review, either. I am really impressed with this product, and I rely on reviews before making any online purchase, so I thought I'd contribute.)
